BIRTH STORIES
Birthing stories are so special & some of the most intimate sessions I offer. These are shot in documentary style, which is so very different from traditional posed sessions. Shooting journalistically allows such a great level of comfort and ease for everyone around. I know it can be intimidating to think about having a camera in your face during the most important and intimate event of your life, but I do everything I can to make you forget I am even there. Everyone has a different birth plan so these sessions are customized to fit each mom-to-be. I will work closely with you & your family to stay up to date on your progress making sure I am close by & available to be on call for your delivery. The shoot time for these sessions are just as different as the actual birth story from mom to mom. Sometimes I am at a birth for hours and other times I may be there for a couple. I always stay at the hospital for one hour after the baby is delivered to capture skin to skin contact, the first feeding, first contact with other family members, & all the other important "firsts". FRESH 48 SESSIONS
These sessions are my absolute my favorite sessions to photograph. Different from birthing stories, these sessions are scheduled within the first 48 hours post delivery. I usually plan to arrive at the hospital the day after delivery to document, but I am totally flexible on this. Every story is unique so I embrace the unknowns & allow my clients the ability & space to fluctuate the scheduled time. These sessions are very relaxed & organic. I strive to create a stress-free environment with capturing real smiles and emotions. If you prefer a small amount of prompting or posing, these are the sessions where I will incorporate a small portion of that in order to achieve beautiful compositions & emotion. I take my time with these &I love capturing every single detail. =). These sessions are magical for home births as well. I get all the feels just thinking about it. I'll capture all those small, yet beautiful moments that are wrapped up in new sacred life. I am always supportive of any and all guests/family members you so desire to be a part of this session. There are no right or wrong ways to do a fresh 48, they are completely unique to each client I have the honor of working with.
With fresh 48 sessions I ask to be notified at the time of active labor & again once the baby has been delivered. This helps me prepare and also helps me best determine when the best time to come is. I always want to give my clients enough time following the birth to share intimate moments together with no interruptions. Once I receive these details I will confirm a time for me to arrive.
